Day 1
Individual arrival by 6:30 pm with fully fueled vehicles to our base hotel in the center of the Harz Mountains. Afterwards, the welcome and a short travel briefing will take place before we meet for dinner together around 19:30.
2nd day - approx. 280 km
After breakfast, we will initially head east. Winding roads surrounded by spruce forests lead us to the Okertalsperre. After our coffee break and a photo stop we continue partly parallel to the Brockenbahn. We enjoy our lunch at the foot of the "Großvaterfelsen". Afterwards we also get to see the western part of the Devil's Wall. Small and larger country roads wind their way back to our cozy base hotel. In the evening we enjoy our dinner on the terrace of our hotel.
Day 3 - approx. 290 km
After a few kilometers of federal highway, winding well paved roads lead us east. Today the fantastic route to the Kyffhäuser Monument is on the agenda. We almost feel like we are on a race track. Shortly afterwards we reach the cultural highlight of today: the Panorama Museum Bad Frankenhausen. Again we enjoy the curve swing and drive to the famous Thuringian Bratwurst stalls near the Kyffhäuser monument, where we have lunch. Fantastic stretches through the southern Harz Mountains follow. At the ruins of Hohnstein Castle in Neustadt we enjoy a wonderful view on the Harz Mountains and combine this photo stop with a short coffee break. We return on mostly well paved roads to the base hotel, where we will be served a delicious dinner in the evening.
Day 4 - approx. 125 km
After our substantial breakfast we head south today. Fast roads with long curves, but also some small roads lead us deeper and deeper into the Thuringian Forest. In the castle café of Scharfenstein we enjoy the beautiful view on the forests and the mountains as well as coffee or tea. Arrived in the Luther town Eisenach we go directly to the legendary automobile museum. It is very impressive what interesting exhibits have found their way here. After our joint lunch in the historic city center of Eisenach, all participants of the second stage will start their journey to our base hotel in Suhl for the next stage of our three-part trip "The Pearls of the East".
Day 5 approx. 290 km
After breakfast, we first head east, crossing wonderful serpentine roads after a short fast stage. We drive more or less parallel to the legendary Rennsteig through dense mountain forests. After enjoying our coffee break, we now enter the Thuringian Slate Mountains and a little later we even reach the Franconian Forest. In an inconspicuous restaurant we enjoy a delicious lunch and the view on the highest church in the Franconian Forest, the Bartolomäuskirche in Döbra. After a photo stop at a reservoir, we reach Probstzella and spend our next coffee break in the "Haus des Volkes", a particularly beautiful example of a "Bauhaus" style building. Back to Suhl we travel along wonderful little roads. Our dinner on the terrace of our hotel is a special treat today.
Day 6 - approx. 270 km
Today we head north. Beautiful mountain and valley roads alternate. Sometimes we drive through fragrant spruce forests, sometimes pine forests. After our coffee break, a wonderfully winding route takes us through the mountains to the world-famous Wartburg Castle. The climb is well worth it. Because this castle is not only an important part of German contemporary history but also beautifully restored and the view is magnificent. Here we will also have our lunch. After the lunch break, we will head south on a federal road. Again and again we admire the mostly restored half-timbered houses. We reach a small waterfall, which invites us to take pictures. At the same time we enjoy a coffee or tea. Via the nature park route Thuringian Forest along the Rennsteig we return to our hotel.
Day 7 - approx. 130 km
At the beginning we will again follow the Rennsteig to the southeast. We reach the Black Valley and are completely overwhelmed by the magnificent route on mostly very good asphalt. For almost 30 km, snappy curve follows snappy curve. In the center of Schwarza we stop at a particularly nice café. After we have quickly passed the heavy traffic on the main road, today's stage is again characterized by small winding roads. Around noon we reach Kahla and a very nice restaurant in the middle of the historic market place. Here we have lunch together. All participants of the third stage of our tour are now getting ready for the onward journey to the new base hotel in the Ore Mountains.
Day 8 - approx. 280 km
After breakfast, we first head east. On this side of the border with the Czech Republic, small, winding roads provide great driving pleasure. One of our destinations is a mining museum. Displays and exhibits show how mining developed in this region and laid the foundation for the dense settlement. We then enjoy our lunch in the restaurant attached to the museum.
After the coffee break, we reach a beautiful reservoir after the border with the Czech Republic, which invites us to a short stop. While the roads are still in very poor condition after crossing the border, new or like-new asphalt awaits us on the rest of today's stage, coupled with countless curves that make the motorcyclist's heart beat faster. Afterwards we will return to Germany to our comfortable hotel.
Day 9 - approx. 270 km
Today we are looking forward to a cultural highlight: Augustusburg Castle. However, until that happens, we will drive on mostly small roads through beautiful valleys and hilly landscapes. Here, the forest still seems to be in order. After about 80 kilometers, we reach the imposing Augustusburg hunting lodge, a Renaissance castle that has recently been elaborately restored. Here we treat ourselves to a coffee break. If you want, you can take a closer look at the castle or visit the impressive motorcycle museum that the castle houses. After more varied kilometers, we arrive in the town of Wolkenstein: A good place for lunch - with a view on the castle of the same name, before we can look forward to more great combinations of curves. After our coffee break, we reach the gigantic Göltzschtal Bridge. The world's largest brick bridge is the landmark of the Vogtland.
In the late afternoon we return to the hotel. There we look forward to the delicious evening menu, which rounds the eventful day.
Day 10 - approx. 150 km
On the last day we drive east again. The road winds through dense mixed forests and around a reservoir. Afterwards we reach a curious restaurant with some exhibits from GDR times - just right for our first coffee break. After another 30 kilometers we reach Altenberg in Saxon Switzerland, the German part of the Elbsandstein Mountains. Many beautiful and serpentine kilometers later, we reach Königstein at noon. Here we stop at an inviting restaurant and enjoy our last lunch together. After that it's goodbye - and see you next time!
