Lakes, fairies, sacred hills - a journey through the heart of the green island in the Atlantic
A round trip along the winding coastal roads and Ireland's pastures, bypassing mystic places that take us back to the country's history, is the core of this tour. Starting in the south-east of the country and a stop in Dublin, it crosses the Landesinnere to the west coast with its wild-romantic lakes and spectacular cliffs. We visit, among other things, the Newgrange architecture, dating from the Megalithic period, and venture to the highest viewpoints of the island, with a view of 600 meters of steep cliffs of Slieve League. The tour continues to the middle west coast, the Burren, an extraordinary landscape formed by the sea thousands of years ago. This section of the journey is characterized by a fun pass through curves and hills in the scenic Burren. This is the opportunity to visit one of the world famous Doolin Pubs where Guinness and Lammhaxe play Irish Folk. With a bit of luck, we hear music from the unique Irish bagpipe whose sound, like no other instrument, makes the Irish soul feel. Another highlight of the tour is the South West of the island, with its peninsulas Dingle and Kerry, which were the backdrop for international film productions such as Harry Potter or Excalibur, with their incomparable bays and views of the Atlantic and the surrounding mountains inviting you to stare and admire. Here we move off the main roads to enter into the magic of these wild-romped peninsulas. A highlight of this tour is the Killarney National Park with its incomparable lakeside landscape. Be sure to pack a good camera! In the end of the tour we are crossing the island - this time from west to east across Cork County.
The return journey begins with a second trip through France, including a ferry crossing (Rosslare-Cherbourg), and interesting stops at historical sites such as Omaha Beach in Normandy and Verdun in Champagne. The start and the end point is Saarbrücken.
